No Smoke Detectors in the Sea

This article talks about what the chemical origins of ocean dead zones consist of.  Persistent low-oxygen conditions are developing in various places throughout our oceans and particularly near costs where humans add nitrogen to the sea.  This is mostly in the form of fertilizers washed off the land.  The point of the article is to show that there are no smoke detectors in the sea screaming at us to do something about the dead zones!
