Mayo Clinic studies show that rheumatoid arthritis is now possibly linked to obesity. The data links the two together very highly so the doctors are thinking it may be caused by obesity. Inflammation from the arthritis causes loss of lean body mass and gain in more dense fat. Rheumatoid arthritis can also be seen in not obese people.
