For Back Pain, Steroid Shots No More Effective Than Placebo



Researchers tested 84 adults with back pain. The people were divided into three groups, each group receiving a different type of injection: steroids, etanercept, or an inactive saline solution. The results showed no significant differences among the groups. Patient improvement was due to normal healing, disproving each medical injection. Doctors say the best medicine to cure back pain is exercise.
