Increasing Predator-Friendly Land Can Help Farmers Control Pests

Including noncrop plants and natural features in farm fields is an effective way of attracting lady bugs, which are effective in controlling crop-eating pests.  Farmers spend billions each year on pesticides, but predator insects (such as ladybugs) are more effective.  So, farmers are increasingly attempting to create a more natural environment that allow ladybugs to survive.  This is a great example of nature's ability to balance itself better than humans can artificially.
