Hormone in birth control shot linked to memory loss

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/11/111101125557.htm

The hormone medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA) is the hormone used in the birth control shot and it may be harming memory. It has been tested to impair the memory in rodents. The scientists first figured this link when they were studying its possible uses for menopause. Other forms of birth control do not use MPA so they are not at risk. This is still being studied and tested, and it has been seen to impair memory in rodents, but there are no solid conclusions.
