New Stem Cell Discovery

At Lund University, scientists discovered a type of stem cell in the brain that they believe could be used to form new brain cells. This hypothesis and claim is monumental in the sense that injuries and diseases to the brain are the hardest to combat and recover from because brain tissue does not regenerate. The specific functions of these stem cells remain unclear but their discovery provides great potential for new avenues of stem cell research. Hopefully the findings will provide insight into how brain cell plasticity works and new repair mechanisms of brain tissue can be discovered.http://www.biologynews.net/archives/2012/04/23/new_stem_cell_found_in_the_brain.html
