South Korean Mummies Hold Hepatitis B

Mummified bodies in South Korea dating back to the 1300's may hold clues to fighting modern disease. A burial ritual in South Korea accidentally resulted in a natural mummification process that, unlike mummies of egypt, preserved quite a large portion of the human's DNA. One such mummy carries samples of hepatitis B which scientists are going to use to see if the virus has morphed significantly in the time since the body has been buried. The results could lead to better ways of fighting liver disease.http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/07/070725-korea-mummies_2.html
