Before recently, scientists had not discovered any other
hominid lineage that lived at the same time as Lucy. However, recently they have found another
lineage around the same time that had a grasping big toe but no arch. It is expected that they could walk short
distances. It is hopeful that this will
further the study of hominid feet, which at present time we know very little
about.
