Autism Linked to Obesity in Pregnant Women

Based on a strictly observational study, researchers have found that autism may be correlated with obese mothers (remember, correlation does not infer causation).  Based on the study, "obese mothers were 67 percent more likely to have an autistic child than normal-weight, healthy moms".  They are not sure about the reason for this relation, and more research must be done.  It is thought that the root may be associated with diabetes, but this again must be looked into further.  However, scientists hope that these findings will urge mothers to control their habits, dietary and non-dietary, when pregnant or trying to get pregnant.
