A New Look at BMI

As we discussed in class, doctors and health officials have relied on body mass index to assess if one is overweight. There has recently been a change in this idea. This particular study shows that calculating the BMI might now show how many people are actually obese. The BMI does not consider factors like muscle weight and overall health. Some doctors say that the BMI threshold for obesity should be lowered to 24 instead of 30 what it is at now.
