Action Video Games Could Improve Vision
At the University of Rochester, professor Daphne Bavelier has found in research that action video games increase a subject's ability to discern shades of gray, one of the foundational elements of human vision and efficiently processing images. In fact, even after ceasing training in video games, the improvement remains for up to two years. In order to test the theory, a long-term study took place with two groups of 11 students. One group played an action video game for 50 hours a week for nine weeks, while the other played Sims 2 for the same amount. The action video game group experienced 43% increased ability to discern between close shades of gray.
