Prevalence of Autism

Once again, autism rates are rising dramatically. In 2002, 1 in every 150 kids were diagnosed with autism. This number rose substantially in 2008 to 1 in 88. Many people think this increase is due to the sudden increase in autism rates in minority populations; namely Hispanics and black children. There was an under-diagnosis to these children in the past.
