Refocus of the Source of Obesity

According to a report in Sociology of Education, recent findings have shown that sales in middle schools of candy, soda, and other junk food plays a smaller role in obesity than was previously thought. Rather, it is more efficient to place emphasis on healthy eating at home and educating good eating habits
at early ages, such as elementary school.

There is still some opposition to this finding. One opposing argument is that students in middle school have more unhealthy alternatives for lunch. However, initiating programs targeting healthier eating at home, educating children at younger ages to instill good eating habits, and controlling unhealthy food
intake at school will benefit the epidemic of obesity.
