A Child’s Helping Hand on Portions

Marshall Reid, at the age of ten, was teased in school for being obese. He and his mother decided to do the opposite of the famous “Super Size Me” documentary. They trialed a healthy diet/lifestyle for one month. This proved to be difficult due to schedule constraint and other family members unwilling to participate. Marshall’s father was stationed in Iraq during the diet; so to include him in the project, mother and son posted web videos on cooking. These videos gained many views and inspired many to change their lifestyle. The success of the videos led to the mother and son continuing their diet. Since every individual has different reactions to food, the diet proved hard to maintain for the whole family. However, the Reid family has overcome their obstacles and making a healthier lifestyle for themselves.
