Designer babies lawful to help sick siblings, UK Law Lords decide

Here is an interesting article on another argument regarding designer babies.  Is it ethical to self-select genes of a baby so that the new baby can help a sibling with a particular disorder?  Many disorders can be cured by taking stem cells from the newborn’s umbilical cord and transplanting them to the child with a disorder.  A good statement of the argument for this procedure is stated within the article, “it is nice to know that society has now embraced the technology to cure the sick and take away the pain”.  However, some question if it is ethical to conceive another child simply to cure a preexisting child.
