Really cool—researchers at University of Exeter have created
a new transgenic zebrafish that signals where environmental oestrogens affect
the body through production of fluorescent signals. Their research was started because of
previous studies linking endocrine-disrupting chemicals used in industrial
products and contraceptive pharmaceuticals to issues in wildlife and
humans. These scientists hope that by
studying these transgenic zebrafish they will be able to get closer to
understanding how and where these pollutants affect humans and wildlife.
