Researchers in London have been studying the effects of sunlight on chickenpox. They say that they have known for a while that UV light has been long known to inactivate viruses, and that in tropical countries diseases like chickenpox do not spread as easily as they do in places like the US or Europe. They say that this could also explain why chickenpox is much more common during colder seasons. They do not yet know the full effect of UV on chickenpox, or what about it is causing this correlation.
