FDA Okays Raltegravir for Kids, Teens With HIV

The drug integrase inhibitor raltegravir (Isentress), known as raltegravir for short, was approved for adults as a medication to fight HIV back in 2007.  Just recently, the drug approved for children as well.  As with all HIV drugs, it is used in cocktail of three total drugs.  It is taken as pill twice daily.  There did not appear to be any additional side effects when taking the drug as a child as opposed to as an adult.
