Cooling Down the Brain to Cure Insomnia

New research suggests that cooling down the brain while sleeping might help people with chroniac insomnia. According to the article, wearing a cap with cool water circulating in it might help decrease the metabolism of the prefrontal cortex, which is what usually happens when people fall asleep. Insomniacs, however, often have overactive prefrontal cortex activity when they try to sleep, which is thought to be one reason why they can't fall asleep. The cap had a 75% success rate in this study.
