Alzheimer's Drug Candidate May Be First to Prevent Disease Progression, Mouse Study Suggests
Based on the findings found in PLoS ONE, there may be a new drug that is able to stop the mental decline of Alzheimers disease. A mouse who had Alzheimers was given this drug, J147, and as a result the mouse had improved memory and prevented further brain damage. This drug protects the brain from loss of memory of synaptic connections. Scientists aren't fully sure what causes this disease, it is a mix of genetics, environment, and lifestyle issues. This new drug could be a huge step in the right direction in discovering more.
