Pristine Reptile Fossil Holds New Information About Aquatic Adaptations
Scientists have discovered a new fossil in western Kansas that had been submerged under a shallow sea at the time that it existed. This fossil was of an aquatic reptile and it was found to have remnants of soft tissue on it. This gave the scientists a new outlook on the behavior of these reptiles. The new findings which showed the reptiles to have scales and skin impressions give way to believe that the mosasaur was capable of minimizing its frictional drag in water. Other findings show that it depended on its rear for swimming.
