Economy Contributes to Slowest Population Growth Rate Since ’40s



This past year, the American economy grew at a meager rate not seen since the 1940s.  This is accompanied by a low birth rate, the lowest since 1991.  In this article, Sabrina Tavernise suggests that these two facts may be related.  She points back to the Great Depression, where birth rates fell by one third.
