Changing the Locks: HIV Discovery Could Allow Scientists to Block Virus's Entry Into Cell Nucleus
In a recent study, scientists have discovered the "key" that HIV uses to get into our cells nucleus. This allows it to disable the immune system and cause AIDS. These findings give a possible new target for anti-AIDS drugs that could be more effective against drug-resistant strains of the virus. The transmission of HIV is through bodily fluids more specifically blood or semen. The scientists have discovered the capsid protein which is the unlocking gateway that gives the virus access to DNA. This new discover could help in decreasing AIDS.
