A study conducted by the Department of Biology at Queen's University dealt with South American songbirds. These researchers discovered that these birds are much different in color and song but show very slight genetic differences. This may indicate that they are on the way of becoming a new species. There were more differences in the males and now studies are being conducted to look at the key underlying differences to find what the gene differences are and to give key insights to this evolution.
