Russia's unregulated oil wells are spewing oil into surrounding areas, creating a catastrophe. Recent estimates puts that Russia spills 5 million tons of oil per year. Poor regulation is one of the reason on why oil is spilling at an alarming rate. The harsh climates of the arctic doesn't help with the responsible containment of oil. Cleaning oil is one task, but the recovery is harsh. Land once occupied with wildlife and clean water is now covered in thick goo made out of oil. Natives are forced out of their homes for safety reason that could have been avoided.
