Generated Pluripotent Cells Safer Than Thought

Scientists at the University of Georgia have found that pig induced pluripotent stem cells may be much safer for use in humans and other mammals than previously thought. Though the rodent models don't accurately apply to humans, the mice given these stem cells survived at a much higher rate than assumed.

This research appears to suggest that future developments in the creation and storage of pluripotent cells may create stem cells which can be used in humans without the need for cells from an embryo. Though they're not there yet, this research is promising.
