Cancer survivors have higher risk of melanoma

Cancer survivors have higher risk of melanoma
Doctors have long known that people who survive melanoma are more susceptible to other skin cancers but a new study finds that the connection is vice versa as well.  Individuals who have survived cancer have an increased risk of melanoma.  This increased risk was most common among breast cancer, prostate cancer, leukemia, and lymphoma survivors.  The biggest risk factor for melanoma is excess exposure to UV radiation.  However, it is believed that the link between the cancers and melanoma could be caused by genetic susceptibility to multiple cancers.
