War Veterans’ Concussions Are Often Overlooked

Staff Sgt. Kevin Owsley recaps his event of being in Afghanistan and a car side bomb exploding. He says that he just fought through the pain, and you do not think about the pain. However, after coming home from the war, Owsley started having problems with his memory. It is estimated that about 20 percent of combat veterans have at least experienced one concussion, and many experiencing more than one. These veterans are not being screened for any mild brain injuries, so they are going untreated for any brain injury unless it was obvious.
