Stronger Corn? Take It Off Steroids, Make It All Female

A researcher at Purdue University found that when corn does not produce naturally occurring brassinosteroids, the corn has kernels where the pollen producing tassels usually are in a male plant. If the corn does not have the tassels, it saves corn producers the time of having to de-tassel the plants, and it yields more kernels.
