Safety Concerns Linger Around Genetically Modified Salmon

The FDA has spent 15 years deliberating as to whether they will allow the use of salmon genetically modified to grow twice as fast for human consumption. They have made the decision that there is a not a reasonable risk of harm. Intense opposition by environmentalists may be what is hindering the decision. This could be due in part to a lack of research on what would happen if the salmon escaped into water with non-modified fish.
