Premature birth may cause an increased risk of epilepsy later in life

A strong correlation was found between premature birth and epilepsy risk, with the risk increasing the earlier the birth. Of the 630,090 adults followed, 27,953 had been born prematurely, and 922 of the total participants (15%) had been hospitalized for epilepsy during the duration of the study.
