New Medication Lowers Cholesterol And Plaque

A new study has shown that a new medication that lowers cholesterol is also responsible for the break-down of plaque in arteries. They have found that statins, what cholesterol-lowering medication consists of, promotes the regression of atherosclerosi, the accumulation of plaque in the arteries. It does this by changing the receptor in plaque cells and therefore making them unable to express. This new discovery allows us to understand the benefits of statins and hopefully make them more available soon.
