Just Breathe

The percentage of children with asthma has steadily been climbing since the 1980's. According the the University of Wisconsin - Madison, giving children acetaminophen might be the cause of the increase of children with asthma. I quote, "Even a single dose of acetaminophen can reduce the body’s levels of glutathione, an enzyme that helps repair oxidative damage that can drive inflammation in the airways, researchers have found." It is rather interesting that children were given this drug, and now there are many lines of evidence suggesting it causes asthma in children. This article ties into our discussion about the respiratory system. Who knows, maybe cigarettes aren't bad for you just yet.
