Is Ritalin Addictive?

This article talks about how Ritalin, a methylphenidate that has been prescribed to many teens who either have ADD or ADHD, causes brain changes similar to someone using cocaine. Ritalin and cocaine are both in the “psychostimulant” drug class, in the Schedule II classification and are approved for medical use only under the Control Substances Act- but have the highest potential for abuse. These startling facts about Ritalin and how closely related it is to cocaine are very scary to realize how addictive this specific pill can be and how dangerous it is that many college students are using it daily for school or personal use.
