Gold particles have to been found to help in the accurate diagnonsis of a variety of cancers. This is done by the detection of telomerase. The presence of telomerase is often a for sure indicator that the cell has become cancerous, as most cells cannot naturally produce telomerase on their own. This new technique is much faster than others currently used to detect cancer and is becoming more and more sensitive as people keep working to find better and better ways of using it.
