excessive weight gain during pregnancy increases risk of overweight child

Women who put on more than the recommended amount of weight during pregnancy are more likely to give birth to fatter babies, a new study has shown. The study consisted of tracking 56 women's weight gain during pregnancy, and comparing the amount of weight gain to the percent of fat in the baby's body.
