Millions of pacemakers have been successfully implanted in the past half century to regulate erratic heartbeats, but because they require a lot of wiring there are increased risks of infection during surgery and the heart's beating can create strain on the wires and damage them. This is why researchers have decided that it is time to go wireless as we are doing in many things today. The new pacemaker is called the Wireless Cardiac Stimulation system. It is a wireless electrode that replaces multiple wires. California start-up has successfully implanted it in 100 patients
