Deep-Sea Yeti Crab Farms Food on Its Arms

In inhospitable environments like the sea floor, food is scarce. However, the yeti crab has an innovative way of finding food. Instead of eating bacteria as it finds them, the crab allows the bacteria to attach to its claws. Then, it waves its claws over methane vents so that the bacteria will grow into full colonies. Finally, the crab uses a special arm to eat the colony of bacteria.
