Childbirth: Benefits Seen in Clamping the Cord Later

A recent study has found that cutting the umbilical cord 3 minutes or later after the child has been born has benefits. In a study of 334 infants, they separate into two groups where one has their umbilical cord cut within 10 seconds and the other in 3 minutes or longer. When they tested the babies at 4 months, the ones who had their cords cut later had a higher concentration of iron was 45% higher than the other babies who had their cords cut right away.
