Michigan State University psychological department is doing an experiment to see what most people would do when faced with a decision like killing 1 person to saving 5. They would either choose the utilitarian way or the do no harm option. They put 147 subjects under a virtual system and tested what they would do. About 90% would kill the one to save the others. They found that those who would chose the utilitarian approach were less emotional and excited and could think more clearly opposed to the ones who chose the do no harm approach.
