Research focuses on common cause of blindness
Corneal fibrosis is a disease that is the
second leading cause of blindness. It causes cloudiness in the eye but new
research may lead to a way to reverse this effect. Removing a protein called
vimentin seems to allow better healing in the cornea. If this is true, this
concept might be able to be applied to other types of fibrosis.
