Potential Missing Link Between Synapse and Protein Aids Research On Autism

Research has shown that while most mental illnesses are unique to humans, animals also sometimes exhibit strange and abnormal behaviors.  Scientists at Caltech have discovered that mice missing a gene that encodes a particular protein in the synapse have many peculiarities about them associated with schizophrenia and autism.  These findings in mice could help the search for a cure or treatment to human Autism.
