Anthropologists from the University of Zurich watched orangutans for 100,000 hours in different areas of the world, and concluded that their differences in behavior could not be explained by just genetics or environment. The researchers suggest that this proves that culture is not a specifically human trait, and that "now we know that the roots of human culture go much deeper than previously thought. Human culture is built on a solid foundation that is many millions of years old and is shared with the other great apes."
