Making Sickle Cell Disease a Manageable Illness

 

Over the years, babies with sickle cells have now become a manageable disease instead of a deadly one. Children nowadays 90% of children who have the disease live to their adult years with the help of new treatments and preventatives. Now in the United States, newborns are screened for sickle cells before they leave the hospital. This helps to treat the ones who do have the cell to be treated immediately to ensure longer life.
