In a Shark’s Tooth, a New Family Tree

Until recently, scientists assumed that the Great White Shark evolved from the giant ancient megalodon. However, new evidence about the two species' teeth say otherwise. Scientists now think that the Great white actually evolved from an ancestor to the Mako shark. The similarities between Great whites and megalodons is likely convergent evolution.
