There are several effects of radiation to human body depending on different parts of the body. The damages are going to affect the cells that reproduce, so brain, whose most of the cells do not reproduce is not affected that much. Blood is affected causing the person who was exposed to the radiation to feel like having a flue. The studies from Nagasaki showed that this could last up to 10 years. Because reproductive cells divide rapidly, these are the ones that are most affected.
