In a study of 37 adults around the age of 34 with autism, they gave them prozac to see how they would respond to it. Before taking the pill, they were fidgety, re-arranging things, nail-biting, re-reading and writing, and so forth. But afterwards, 50% of people declined those activities. It was reported that 35% of this group who continued with the medication did better social and on their day to day basis. The side effects were dry mouth and insomnia for the most part with mild headaches.
