24,000 Diabetes deaths a year 'could be avoided'

There are about 70-75,000 deaths from diabetes a year in England, and about 24,000 of them are preventable. Experts say that these could be avoidable if people managed their condition better and that this death toll is completely unacceptable.  The Department of Healthcare in England is trying to take steps towards decreasing these numbers, since such staggering amounts are unavoidable.  They say that people need to be responsible for the condition that they have, and see the doctor regularly.
