Ron Fouchier engineered a version of H5N1 or the avian flu. It has been tested on ferrets (mimics humans the most closely) and has proven to be extremely deadly. Now there is a debate about how or if this research should be published. On one hand, it could help researchers study and fight off future flues or pandemics even. On the other hand, this information would be available to everyone including bioterrorists.
