Food We Eat Might Control Our Genes

This article talks about how scientists are now finding microRNAs in some food that we eat which could be controlling the expression of our genes. MicroRNAs themselves do not code for proteins, but they can block the expression of proteins from other genes. Scientists say that they have found such microRNAs in rice, wheat, potatoes, and cabbage. Scientist Chen-Yu Zhang says that this may shed light on our direct link to the environment, as well as even going so far as to talk about co-evolution between humans and the environment around us. Further research is  being done on just how much these microRNAs are affecting us, and also what affect our domestication of many plants could have on our own bodily systems.
